Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When we adopt the Purpose Driven Church model, do we become a clone of
Saddleback Church?
A: “God has a custom ministry for each church. Your church has a
unique thumbprint that God has
given it,” says Rick Warren in his book the Purpose Driven
Church. Becoming a purpose driven
church means building on the biblical principles behind the Purpose
Driven movement rather than copying specific
characteristics that are unique to Saddleback or
other PD churches. When the principles are biblical,
they will work in any church, whatever the
denominational labels, anywhere in the world.
As Pastor Narry Santos of GCF South Metro puts it,
“The PD paradigm is based on the two greatest
commands of Jesus Christ. How can you argue with the Great
Commandment and the Great
Commission (which are the foundation of the PD model)?”
Q:What does being a balanced and healthy church mean?
A: A balanced, growing congregation is one that is growing
larger in numbers as it grows
deeper in carrying out the God-given purposes for churches through
worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and
missions.
Q:We did the 40 Days of Purpose but our church sees no change. Why?
A: The only reason a 40 DOP will not work for your church is
because you did not follow the 5 fundamental
principles of 1) unified prayer, 2) concentrated focus 3)multiple
reinforcement 4) behavioral
teaching and 5) exponential thinking.
