PDL invades San Pablo

The Purpose Driven Life ministry is truly a beautiful tool the Lord is using to help people like us to reach out to the unsaved and to minister to those in need to enable them to know God’s purposes for their lives.

Our church had a 3-phase program. First, we did the 40 Days of Purpose campaign for our church leadership. After a week, we had a break during which we focused on prayer. Later, we conducted it in our congregation. For the third phase, we held the campaign citywide. The local newspaper scooped the 40 DOP campaign and bannered it as PDL invades San Pablo. There were 400 people gathered at the San Pablo Central School Gymnasium.

So many things happened so fast. When we started, we had 14 Small Groups and grew to 24 when it was launched for the congregation. With the citywide campaign, there are now 54 Small Groups and still growing. We are amazed at how the Lord has been moving in our midst, providing the budget for the campaign and other needs and how He has been answering our prayers to help us bring people to Him, empowering us to fulfill the Great Commission. Our prayer to mobilize the entire church to undertake missions and evangelism is coming to reality through PD.

Coming from the Fundamental Baptist group, we had some misgivings about “Purpose Driven” because we have a hard core orientation and training when it comes to the Bible. But we tried to see what we could get out of it and how it could help us. We studied the PDL book very carefully and we saw how the scriptures were explained and related to practical life in simple layman’s language.

One problem we were worried about when we were preparing to launch the  40 DOP in the city was how we could bring in the people to the venue and eventually to the church. But as the citywide campaign draws to a close, the problem we have to face is how to accommodate all the people who want to come to the church; we simply have no more seats and definitely no more space where they could be accommodated. And there are more than 400 of them! But this the most beautiful problem God has given us. The next challenge for us is to look for a bigger place to put all those who want to worship with us and those who want to help in ministering to others.

But that’s alright. We have seen how the Lord has worked in the church leadership, in our congregation and how He is gradually working in San Pablo communities. We see many problems but we believe our God will help us resolve these problems. This ministry is not for us but for others. God’s work is really exciting as His ways unfold right before our eyes each step of the way. We are encouraged by what a theologian said –God’s work done in God’s ways will never lack God’s provisions. We believe that God is preparing a space for us in the middle of San Pablo City.
